RENT COMMISSION OFFICE MOVED TO HOUSING DIVISION

The public is informed that as of Monday September 9, 2019 the Rent Commission of the Ministry of Housing and Lands has been relocated to the Housing Division, 2nd floor, Old DBMC Building on Charles Avenue and Goodwill Road.

UWI OFFERS 10-WEEK COURSE IN BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT

The University of the West Indies is offering a 10-week course in Building and Construction Management from September 30 to 11 December, 2019.  

The course is designed to provide training in the principles and practices of building construction management and operations such as contractor business setup and financial records, occupational health and safety, introduction to contracts, introduction to tendering and pricing as well as insurances and bonds.

SERVICE CONTRACT NOTICE

The National Authorising Officer for the European Development Fund, Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica intends to award a Service Contract for the ‘Conduct of an Energy Audit and Solar PhotoVoltaic (PV) Assessment for Douglas-Charles Airport’ in the Commonwealth of Dominica, with financial assistance from the 11th European Development Fund National Indicative Programme : Dominica Sector Reform Performance Contract – Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Programme.

REGISTRATION OPEN FOR UWI OPEN CAMPUS

Dear Friends of UWI Open Campus:

 We are pleased to announce that our new slate of courses for Semester I are ready for your registration. We will be offering the following courses beginning on September 16: 

 

  • Building Construction Management (10 weeks)
  • Project Management (13 weeks)
  • Credit Union Essentials (10 weeks)
  • Introduction to Counselling (13 weeks)
  • Computer Networking (10 weeks)
  • Interpersonal Communication Skills and Human Relations (6 weeks)
  • Climate Change and Sustainable Development in Tourism (2 weeks)
  • Financial Monitoring and Evaluation (10 weeks)
  • Advanced Sales and Marketing (10 weeks)
  • Advanced Events Management (10 weeks)

All 10 week courses are $450, while 13-week courses are $600. Both the 2-week course and the 6-week course have the same 18 contact hours and cost $250 each. Payment plans are available.

COMMONWEALTH OF BAHAMAS DISASTER RELIEF ACCOUNT ESTABLISHED

The Government of Dominica has established a Commonwealth of Bahamas Disaster Relief Account at the National Bank of Dominica as a course of action to assist the Government and people of The Bahamas which has been battered by Hurricane Dorian since Sunday, September 1, 2019.

The account number is 115004385. Individuals and others desirous of making a monetary contribution to the Bahamas should make deposits to this account. It must be noted that due to logistical challenges, cash donations are most appropriate at this time.
