REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST

Interested persons are invited to submit Expressions of Interest for the following consultancies:  

  1. (1) ASYCUDA WORLD TRAINING CONSULTANT

The objective of this assignment is to develop and execute a training programme for Customs Officials and Customs Brokers in Customs Controls through the use of the ASYCUDA World System.

 

  1. (2) CUSTOMS TRAINING CONSULTANT

The objective of this assignment is to develop and execute a training programme for Customs Officials in the following EPA trade-related areas:

  1. Rules of origin;
  2. Classification of goods; and
  3. Customs Valuation.

ANNOUNCEMENT: West Bridge Construction Begins June 4

Public Announcement from

the Ministry of Public Works and Ports

 

The general public is informed that works on the Roseau West Bridge will commence on Saturday June 4, 2016.

Works will begin with the fencing of the construction site which will include areas on River Bank between the West Bridge and E. C. Loblack Bridge as well as west of the West Bridge in part of the area currently being used as the Portsmouth bus stop. As a result, the following bus stops will be relocated with effect from Saturday June 4, 2016:

  • St Joseph: northern side of River Street between Great George Street and Kings Lane
  • Mahaut: western side of Great George Street between the intersections of Kennedy Avenue & River Street (opposite Jolly’s Pharmacy and All Saints University)
  • Goodwill & Fond Cole: southern side of River Bank between Upper Lane and Great George Street (opposite Pizza Palace)
  • Kalinago Territory and Castle Bruce: relocated to Bay Town bus stop next to Raffoul & Co. Ltd
  • Marigot/ Portsmouth/ Salisbury: will remain in place

The West Bridge will be closed to the general public from Sunday June 5, 2016.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Vacancy/ Director of Security, DASPA

VACANCY NOTICE - DIRECTOR OF SECURITY

DOMINICA AIR & SEA PORTS AUTHORITY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the position of Director of Security at the Dominica Air and Sea Ports Authority.

REQUIREMENTS:

(i) Bsc in Criminal Justice preferred, and/or Diploma from a recognized Police Training Academy with

supplemental courses in law enforcement

(ii) Minimum of ten (10) years experience in law enforcement or related field

(iii) Training and/or experience in law enforcement

(iv) Strong oral and written communication skills

(v) Mature individual who demonstrates a high level of integrity and discipline

CORE FUNCTIONS

The Director of Security is responsible for coaching, managing and ensuring the training of personnel who provide frontline security and protection of air and sea travelers, airports and seaports in keeping with the relevant protocols and legislation, and any other properties under the control of the Authority.

REMUNERATION AND CONDITIONS OF RECRUITMENT

An attractive remuneration package will be offered. The position will be contractual for two years in the first instance, subject to renewal based on performance.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Vacancy/Web Developer

VACANCY NOTICE

Applications are invited from and suitably qualified persons for the position of Web Developer, Information and Communication Technology Unit, Establishment, Personnel and Training Department, Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. 

The Web Developer shall design and develop the websites of various Ministries/Departments/Units; coordinates the implementation of website development for        e-Government; facilitates the compilation of data following web development standards of the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Required

 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Management System or related field
  • Two (2) years experience in database administration, website design and administration, web applications, web publishing and content management systems (CMS) are required.
  • Experience in graphic design, CSS, HTML, XML, PHP, Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver and FTP Clients would be an asset

                      

  • Experience with dynamic websites
  • Strong creative skills
  • Experience with MySQL or knowledge of backend databases
  • Familiarity with web servers and web protocols
  • Experience with hosting/managing/coding a website

 CUBAN SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME 2016/2017

The Government of the Republic of Cuba is inviting applications for scholarships from the citizens of Dominica below the age of twenty five (25) years to pursue (Undergraduate) studies in various fields except Medicine for the 2016/2017 academic year.

Applicants should possess: a minimum of five (5) CXC subjects including Mathematics and English subjects with grades I and II or equivalent qualifications; an Associate Degree or A Level subjects in relevant field.

Documents to be presented along with application form are:
