The public is asked to take note that in preparation for the start of construction of Phase One of the New National Hospital the Blood Donor Center and Phlebotomy (Blood Drawing) Room of the Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) Laboratory will be closed from Tuesday, November 15 to Friday November 18, 2016.
The temporary closure is to facilitate relocation of the Blood Donor Center and the Phlebotomy (Blood Drawing) Room to another area on the PMH site.
Services will resume on Monday November 21, 2016 at the new temporary location; next to the Central Medical Stores building.
Access to the new temporary location is through the gated entrance of the New Psychiatric Unit (APU) building.
Meanwhile the public is asked to note that vehicular drop off through the same entrance will only be allowed in order to facilitate non-ambulatory patients.
The hours of operation remain the same; 8:00am to 11:00am Mondays to Fridays.
The Government of Dominica through the Ministry of Health and Environment kindly asks you for your patience and thanks you for your cooperation during the construction process of the New National Hospital.

The Ministry of Justice, Immigration and National Security wishes to advise the general public that effective July 1, 2016 the fee for payment of the issuance of entry visas is subject to increased bank charges, the cost remains at US$75.00 + increased Bank Charges of US$7.00 a total of US$82.00.
Applicants are also being reminded of the following:
- ALL applications should be mailed in. Courier service can be used to expedite.
- Application forms can be obtained on the Government of Dominica website i.e. www.dominica.gov.dm.
- The package should include all required documents, a Bank Draft in the amount of US$82.00 (application fee plus bank charges), a self-addressed envelope, with postage paid for return mail;
- NO CASH should be sent with the application;
- Bank Drafts should be made to Accountant General;
- All relevant documents in a foreign language should be translated into English by certified translators ;
- All relevant documents/copies in the foreign language or English and signatures should be notarized;
- Sponsors must complete a separate form and provide supporting documents required. This form MUST NOT be sent in by the applicant;
- Employer must show proof of his/her business;
- Only ONE (1) application will be accepted per individual except for a family or team/club;

The Cultural Division invites all interested poets and writers to participate in this year’s Independence Literary Competitions in English Poetry, English Short Story and Kweyol poetry.
Short stories should be no longer than 2000 words. Poems and stories could have any Dominican or Caribbean theme. Four copies of each short story or poem accompanied by contact details should be submitted to the offices of the Cultural Division at the Old Mill Cultural Centre in Canefield no later than September 30, 2016.

The Cultural Division informs all interested cultural groups, schools and individuals that registration is now open for participation in this year’s Independence Cultural Competitions. Registrations forms can be obtained from the Division of Culture, Cultural Officers, Village Council Offices and District Development Officers.
The categories include Quadrille, Bèlè, Heel & Toe, Flirtation, Mazouk, Sotice, Jing Ping Band, Bamboo Flute, Mouth Organ, Drumming Ensemble, Kont, Kokoy Tory, Kweyol Song group and individual, Kokoy Song and Creative Dance.
The registration deadline is Friday September 16, 2016.
PUBLIC ADVISORY
Due to the pending inclement weather DOWASCO issues advisories to the General Public to keep water in storage for domestic use over the next three days. It is anticipated that heavy rains could affect our vulnerable water systems.
DOWASCO will however make every effort in the event that the
weather impact negatively on the water system to restore water in the quickest possible time to our valued customers.
