VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT: DIRECTOR OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS

The Ministry of Information, Telecommunications and Constituency Empowerment invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position of DIRECTOR OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS.

Duties:

The Director of Telecommunications will be directly responsible to the Permanent Secretary.  Duties include:

• Assisting in the formulation of Telecommunications Policy and Legislation;
• Liaising and consulting with Telecoms Organizations, Operators/Service Providers and users at the national, regional and international levels;
• Liaising with NTRC in the overall implementation of policy related to telecommunications and ICT regulations;

Qualifications, Experience And Skills Required:

• An Advanced degree in Telecommunications or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or ICT. A first university degree in one of the fields above in combination with seven (7) years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of an advanced university degree;
• Diploma in Public Administration (or Certification in Telecommunications Management would be an asset);
• Ability to interpret and apply local and international policies, rules and regulations relating to Telecommunications and ICT;

The position will be on contract for two (2) years in the first instance and salary will be commensurate with qualification. Travel Allowance of $22, 770.00 per annum and Telephone Allowance of $1,200.00 per annum will also paid.
