Meeting: Forestry Division
The Forestry, Wildlife and National Parks Division invites the general public of the Roseau Valley and more specifically the villages of Trafalgar, Fond Cani, Wotten Waven and Shawford to a community meeting scheduled for Thursday, April 14th 2016 from 7:00 p.m. at the Trafalgar Community Centre to discuss the recent findings of an adult Cane Toad in the vicinity of Trafalgar.
The Cane Toad is a native of Central and South America and is believed to have accidentally arrived here a few years ago. The toad is a carrier of the dreaded fungus Chytrid, which has decimated the wild population of our endemic Crapaud or Mountain Chicken. The animal is considered a pest and must not be allowed to settle and naturalize.
The support of the general public is required to assist in eliminating the species from our environment.
