The Paix-Bouche Primary School this September, will celebrate 50 years of existence.
The village plans to come together to celebrate this major achievement with a golden jubilee highlighting the theme, ’50 Years of Class From 1963 – 2013’.
Murium Massicott, Coordinator of the event says, ”We’re not just celebrating fifty years of class or going to school but if we look at the achievements of the students and what we have achieved as a school, it shows we have really excelled.”
According Massicott, the school has played and continues to play an integral part in the life of the residents of Paix Bouche.
“From its establishment in 1963 to today not only has it provided primary education for almost the entire present community, but has been central to the cultural and social development of the Paix-Bouche community.”
To commemorate the event, a week of activities will run from September 15 – 22, 2013. Committee members hope to draw the participation of past and present principals, teachers, and students.
Through this celebration the committee is expecting that a scholarship fund will be established to assist less fortunate students attend secondary school.
The committee will also develop a program to help with a vegetable garden at the school grounds to help with the school feeding program.
Later this year a commemorative magazine highlighting the impact of the school on the life of the Paix-Bouche community will also be produced.
On Sunday September 15, the event officially kicks off with an Ecumenical Service at 4pm. A Grand Assembly and Walk-a- Mile- In- My-Shoe event is scheduled for Tuesday September 17. Feed the Children, Eat Fish Day is carded for September 19 at 12pm.
The event will culminate with a night of talent explosion which will coincide with the village feast of St. Matthew on September 22.
