Dominica’s intelligent beauty, Leslassa Armour-Shillingford continues to represent herself and her country well across the region.
This past week Miss Dominica won two more regional titles in just three days.
She emerged winner at the Miss Jaycees pageant in Antigua on Friday then moved on to Nevis on Monday where she captured the crown as Miss Caribbean Culture.
Armour-Shillingford also holds the title of Miss Carival 2013, a competition held in St. Vincent and 1st runner up of Miss Caribbean World held in Tortola in May of this year.
Gis news asked Nathalie Clarke of the Dominica Festivals Committee about the recent winnings of Armour-Shillingford.
Ms. Clarke says Leslassa is an amazing and talented young woman who has a firm vision and the ability to set great goals and achieve them. She says the Dominican beauty has fully embraced a solid platform, which is ‘holistic education’ and has seized every opportunity promote it.
She also attributes the young lady’s success to the hard work and dedication of her team headed by Carla Armour.
When asked how Leslassa’s performance impacts Dominica’s prospects for representation on the world stage, Clarke told Gis news that Leslassa has shown that she definitely knows how to win crowns.
She says the prospect of Miss Dominica representing the island on the world stage is considered yearly and is always seen as an advantage to Dominica and the young beauty. However, she says, participating in such events can be complicated as there a number of factors to consider, such as the cost involved.
Ms. Universe and Miss World are franchised organisations and in order to participate a franchise would have to be purchased.
Ms. Armour-Shillingford is expected to receive an official welcome back to home on Tuesday.
