Prime Minister and Minister for Finance Hon Roosevelt Skerrit says that no new taxes will be introduced in the 2013/2014 budget.
The Dominica Leader made the announcement during a press conference just 12 days away from his presentation of the National Budget.
He concluded, “There is a case for taxes. Our thinking is, as a Government we need to as far as possible make cuts on discretionary spending. We’ve been doing so consistently from 2009 and 2008 when we recognized the world was turning into something challenging. We had to take measures in a preemptive and proactive manner. So while there is a case for this, people have suggested increases to us but I do not believe the environment is good enough to impose any new taxes or to increase taxes on the citizens of Dominica this time.”
