Work is nearing completion on the Woodfordhill Playing Field.
Member of Parliament for the Wesley Constituency Hon. Gloria Shillingford told GIS news last week that the project should be completed in one month.
She says, “Work to the tune of sixty thousand EC dollars has to be done. Some of the work has already been completed. We are now waiting for the field to be sanded and grassed.”
The Minister said she recognizes just how important a playing field is to a community and the development of young people.
“We have not forgotten about the young people. Many of them say to me, Ms, All we want is the playing field and once that is done, you don’t have to do anything for us again... and a playing field is what we are going to give to them.”
The Woodfordhill playing field lay in disrepair for some time and has been long anticipated by residents of the area.
Hon. Shillingford believes that with the completion of works on the field, her constituency will resume the task of grooming promising sportsmen and women to represent Dominica in the region and further afield.
