The Government of Dominica has announced three days of prayer and fasting from Friday June 25 to Sunday June 27 2021.
Minister for Governance, Public Service Reform, Citizen Empowerment, Social Justice and Ecclesiastical Affairs, Hon. Gretta Roberts stated that the three day activity is a way to thank God for his continuous protection.
“The Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica is mindful of the goodness and mercies of God to us as a people, not only in preserving us during the covid-19 pandemic but also for His constant help and protection during all of our endeavours in the past. As a mark of reflection and thanks giving, we acknowledge that God has indeed been good to us and as a result the Honourable Prime Minister along with Cabinet invites the nation to three days of prayer and fasting beginning Friday June 25th to Sunday June 27 2021,” Hon. Roberts stated.
The Ecclesiastical Affairs Minister then detailed the itinerary for the three days, noting that the prayers will be offered on various radio stations at specified times.
She further urged the public to join the Government in its efforts to unite the nation in prayer.
“Prayers will be offered throughout the day at 9:00 a.m., 12 noon, and 3:00 p.m. on various radio stations as we pray for protection during the hurricane season and the covid-19 pandemic. We also pray for a spirit of unity so that we may live peaceable lives as children of God. This prayer and fasting session will culminate with a thanksgiving mass or service on Saturday June 26 or Sunday June 27 depending on your day of worship. We look forward to your collaboration in this endeavor as we bring our nation together in prayer,” Hon. Roberts added.
