Sponsors of this year’s Carnival celebrations are expected to have more visibility through the television media.
Chairman of the Dominica Festivals Committee (DFC), Colin Piper said during this year’s opening parade scheduled for January 19th, sponsors will have an opportunity to speak about their businesses via television interviews.
He says the plan is to have these interviews rebroadcast on local television stations throughout the Carnival season.
“One of the things that certainly I have taken on personally is in trying to get sponsors a bit more bang for their buck. You will see these changes initially during the opening parade of this year’s Carnival where each corporate sponsor will have time in front of the cameras to be interviewed, to explain their float and their product and service, to capture that moment certainly on film, which can be shown again and again offering them brand awareness and an opportunity for their messaging to be viewed by the television audience.”
Piper who was speaking at the official media launch of Carnival 2013 says the DFC will also seek to increase activities at Carnival City this year.
“While it is difficult to keep an activity for 24 days from the 19th of January till the Calypso finals on February 09th we are making it attractive for organizers to use Carnival City as a venue for their choice of Carnival-related activities. We continue to look for sponsors who will see the benefits of the relationship with Carnival City and Carnival in general.”
Piper says the DFC will continue its efforts to entice more people to visit Dominica to be part of this year’s carnival celebrations.
