Jade Romain of Gutter Village is Miss Dominica 2017.
Romain captured the prestigious crown last Friday night amidst six other competitors at the Eddie Andre Carnival City.
She also captured the awards for Best in Costume, Best Swim Wear, Best in Swim Wear and Best Evening Wear.
Karla Henry of Mahaut came in the First Runner Up position. She copped the awards for Miss Photogenic, Best in Evening Wear and Best Response to Question.
Terisa Lewis of Bath Estate came in the Second Runner Up position.
Best Performing Talent and the Leadership Award for Best Community Project were awarded to Gabrielle Abraham of Goodwill.
Zethra Baron of Fond St. Jean won the award for Best Costume and Esther Francis of Goodwill was awarded Miss Amity.
Dominica also has a new calypso king. Gregory ‘Karessah’ Riviere, snatched the crown from eight-time calypso King, Dice at the Eddie Andre Carnival City last Saturday.
King Dice and Daddy Chess tied for second and third place while the Webb placed fourth.
This past Monday and Tuesday, the streets of the capital saw colour like never before as revellers took to the streets to celebrate Mas Domnik 2017.
Revellers came out in large numbers for J’ouvert early Monday morning followed by the parade of t-shirt and costume bands on Tuesday.
Mas Domnik 2017 was celebrated under the theme 'Domnik Qui Dou, Come revel with Us'.
