Hon. Minister for Tourism, Sen. Robert Tonge, has reported that the Boiling Lake is returning to normalcy. However, the lake is still officially closed to the public.
A trip to the Boiling Lake last week by the Office of Disaster Management, the Forestry Division and a volcanologist of the Montserrat Observatory revealed that the lake is returning to its normal state with the water level rising and boiling. The water however, is of a very dark gray colour and the fumes are still very potent.
The Hon Minister warns members of the public to continue adhering to the caution against visiting the lake at this time.
The Office of Disaster Management and the Forestry Division will continue to monitor the activities at the Boiling Lake and advise the public when the ban to the tourist site is lifted.
