A contract exceeding $400,000 was signed with Fortify Construction on Thursday May 5th for repairs to the roof of the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
There, the Hon. Prime Minister, Dr Roosevelt Skerrit called on the relevant authorities to uphold a regular maintenance plan for the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.
The Hon Prime Minister revealed that the Ministry for Sports has already begun discussions for a maintenance plan for the stadium.
“We hope to spend some money annually to maintain the stadium. I intend to set up, with Cabinet’s approval, a separate account where a percentage of the Stadium’s proceeds will go and from which the community can maintain the facility.”
The Hon. Minister for Sports, Justina Charles explained, “Our maintenance plan is something which we have to revisit very often and as a result, the Stadium Board and Manager have the responsibility to review the facility and draw to our attention the need for any repairs. This is so the facility can be kept at a standard which is appealing to all.”
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sports, Mandra Fagan explained that the galvanize sheeting will be removed from the Irving and Grayson Shillingford Stand otherwise known as the presider’s stand; Kelleb Laurent and Clem George Stand otherwise known as the northern stand, and the Norbert Philbert and Adam Sanford Stand or southern stand.The galvanize sheeting will be replaced with new PVF2 U-Profile 24 gauge zinc sheeting.
Work is expected to be completed by July.
