The Hon. Minister for Public Works, Ian Pinard has affirmed that work will resume shortly on the Despor and A La Crete roads.
The Hon. Minister gave an update of the Despor road at the House of Parliament last week.
“Rehabilitation works commenced on the Sylvania to Despor main road in September 2014; government provided funds in the amount of $325,000 to the Campbell/Despor Village Council for the rehabilitation of a section of road and drain measuring 455 metres. Those works have been satisfactorily completed by local contractors. Less than 275 metres remain to be completed.”
Hon. Pinard assured that this road remains a priority and that the next phase will begin shortly.
The A La Crete Road is also an object of focus.
He continued, “Excavation works for the two miles of road have already been completed. The estimated cost for the road and drains is $1.7m and will form part of the portfolio of works of the Ministry of Public Works.”
Hon. Pinard added, “I think this is the first time [for] the communities of Despor, Campbell and Sylvania that a Government has invested so much...”
The Minister credited the project to the area’s Parliamentary Representative, Hon. Rayburn Blackmore who promised the project and is working to deliver.
