The community of Layou will soon benefit from a Hurricane and Community Shelter. That’s according to Parliamentary Representative for the St. Joseph Constituency, Hon. Kelvar Darroux.
Hon. Darroux revealed that with the help of the Caribbean Development Bank, the community will soon have a new hurricane facility.
He says, “We are at an advance stage toward the recovery after the Matthieu Dam collapsed back in 2011 and we have secured a loan from the Caribbean Development Bank as a Government. One of the major components that will be looked at under this programme is a Hurricane and Community Shelter for the community of Layou and this I believe will go a very long way in ensuring that here in Layou you will have a proper hurricane facility.
This facility will also be used for skills training development and other programmes. Darroux says, “I believe this a step in the right direction.”
He also pledged his continued support to the Layou community saying that as a Member of Parliament he remains committed to working with the people of Layou towards the advancement of the community.”
He also pledged his continued commitment to the Titiri Scholarship Fund which he started about three years ago.
