Construction is soon to begin on two massive housing compounds in Bath Estate and Elmshall, according to Prime Minister Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit.
The purpose of the apartments is to provide low-cost, comfortable accommodation for low-income families.
“Very soon we will start the construction of well over 60 apartment units in Bath Estate and Elmshall to provide modern accommodation to so many families who continue struggle with rent. When I speak to people about the amount of money they have to spend on rent in some small apartment, there is no way these people will survive. The Government recognises that challenge and we’ve gone ahead and started to build apartment to provide for single mothers who have to pay $1,000 or $950 for a one bedroom or two bedroom home in the capital city.”
“We are hoping that next year we can hand over 60 keys to 60 families who have a modern home at a much reduced cost to them and their families.”
