The Hon Minister for Fisheries, Johnson Drigo is warning the public about the accountable use of the Marigot Fisheries Complex for social activities.
He spoke with GIS News onsite on Friday January 8th.
“They must take care of the facility when we make it available to them. It is my understanding that after these activities, the Ministry receives estimates for damages caused by the users. So in 2016, we will be challenging those who wish to use the facility to be responsible for any damage caused,” he asserted.
Meantime the honourable minister also addressed fishers of the Marigot Fisheries Cooperative.
“I want to encourage the fishers of Marigot to support their cooperative. It is my understanding that very few fishers make their contributions especially for the use of the lockers. Persons who use the locker rooms are being asked to make a $10 monthly. I believe that the fishers of Marigot can pay that fee.
“So I am appealing to all of the fishers in 2016 to make their contributions to their cooperative for the maintenance of the facility. It belongs to you and you must make your contribution; Government cannot do everything.
