Dominica's International Efforts Relief Coordinator, Baroness Patricia Scotland has seen firsthand the impact of Tropical Storm Erika.

GIS News accompanied Baroness Scotland on a tour of the west coast communities over the weekend and witnessed her interaction with those impacted by the August 27th weather system.

She greeted and spoke with residents listening attentively to each account.

Baroness Scotland commiserated with the losses of residents and survivors.

The affected communities continue to receive assistance from the international community.

A US-based disaster response non-profit organisation is aiding in the cleanup of communities along the west coast.

The Baroness also spoke with volunteers of that organization.

“On behalf of the people of Dominica and the Dominican Diaspora, thank you very much,” she said to the team.
