Health Minister, Hon. Julius Timothy revealed that operations at the Princess Margaret Hospital will soon be restructured.
The Health Minister was speaking at a public Cabinet discussion last week when he stated that there will be an obvious difference in the level of service provided to patients after the completion of the new Princess Margaret Hospital.
He says, “We are re-organising the entire hospital and we intend to have a relatively new hospital operating early next year. The new hospital is a gift from the Chinese government and the intention is to equip that hospital with the latest state-of-the-art technology. Right now we are in the process of training our nurses to ensure that we have capable staff who are able to operate the equipment and perform the services at the hospital.”
Hon. Timothy also noted that as part of improvements for health services, a number of health care professionals are currently undergoing necessary specialisation training.
“We are now in the process of getting some more specialists. We have sent Dominicans to specialise in oncology, vascular surgery and orthopaedics among a few other fields. We are really getting that on stream.”
