The Kalinago Community here will join the rest of the world next month in observing World Indigenous Day 2012.
The 18th commemoration of the International Day of the World's Indigenous Peoples will be held on Thursday, 9th August 2012.
Carib Councilor Prosper Paris says a panel discussion is among activities planned.
“On the 9th of August we will be calling on you to observe World Indigenous Day from the 9th to the 12th. We will be organising a panel discussion dubbed ‘Kalinago’s Got Talent’.”
In addition, a talent show will be held to showcase the skills of the Kalinago people.”
Kalinago living outside of the territory have been invited to the territory on August 12th to witness the transformational developments within the Kalinago Territory.
“On the 12th of August we would like to invite those of you who are away from the territory to see what we have done, how we are developing and to share that day with you.”
International Day of the World's Indigenous People is celebrated on 9 August every year to recognise the value and diversity of the cultures of indigenous people.
